Congratulations to Kaitlyn Putman, who was chosen for the Patti Baldwin Award. This award is the most prestigious award for any volleyball player in Section X. Kaitlyn was also selected by the coaches to be the MVP-First team All-NAC of the west league this year.
Kaitlin Putman has been a very strong Volleyball player at Madrid-Waddington for the last three years. She plays great defense all around; including receiving digs, and blocking hits at the net. She has a quick
reaction time and plays to her strengths. Kaitlyn excels in Kills and net play. She has an incredible vertical and wins a super majority of 50/50 balls above the net. Her explosive energy and enthusiasm for the game have been contagious.
Kaitlyn is a three season athlete, she plays basketball and Track and Field. She has been the section X discus champion for the past 4 years and participates in States every year. Also, she is a member of the 4x100 meter relay that holds her school record.
Kaitlyn is a solid leader and is a captain of the Varsity volleyball squad. She motivates players through her positive praise and encouragement in games and practices alike. She also attends the JV volleyball practices and provides leadership to demonstrate techniques for the group, and works with individuals of that group as needed. She brings ideas and activities to share at the varsity team practices as well. Kaitlyn is not just a leader in volleyball, she is the President of Madrid-Waddington's National Honor Society. She is involved in the Key Club, Outing Club, Varsity Club and the Whiz Quiz team.
Kaitlyn treats all coaches, players and officials with great respect. She has a positive attitude and truly cares about her teammates. Kaitlyn works very hard at making practice a positive experience for all those involved.
Kaitlyn has a 96.87 GPA and she will be receiving an Advanced Regents Diploma majoring in Math and Science. She will be studying at a University next year. Her college interests include health and sports medicine as well as veterinary science.
